PERSEPSI GENERASI Z PADA EKSISTENSI KESENIAN DONGKREK SEBAGAI IDENTITAS BUDAYA KABUPATEN MADIUN

Abstract

This study aims to describe Generation Z's perception of the existence of Dongkrek art as a cultural identity of Madiun Regency and identify its supporting and inhibiting factors. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with informants consisting of representatives of the Madiun Regency Tourism, Youth and Sports Office, the Head of Mejayan District, the Head of Mejayan Village, the Chairperson of the Dongkrek Arts Association Krido Sakti, and Generation Z in Madiun Regency. The results showed that Generation Z generally knew and understood Dongkrek as a traditional art typical of Madiun Regency that has cultural and historical value. From the affective aspect, Generation Z showed a positive attitude and pride in Dongkrek as a regional cultural identity. However, from the conative aspect, their involvement in preserving Dongkrek is still low. Most of the younger generation has not actively participated in arts activities or cultural preservation efforts. Factors supporting perception include cultural experiences from family and school, the use of social media, and support from the government, community, and arts associations. Inhibiting factors include low interest from the younger generation, the influence of modern culture and digital entertainment, and the weak regeneration of artists. Overall, Dongkrek is still seen as a cultural identity of Madiun Regency, but requires more adaptive preservation strategies to remain relevant in the digital age.
